A decision is due on plans to build 25 new homes for "older people" despite an objector saying the proposal provides "no social or economic benefit".
Applicant Beechcroft Developments Ltd would like to build the 'retirement' houses with a maximum of two storeys on Shirburn Road in Watlington and open them up to "people aged 55 and over".
South Oxfordshire District Council planning committee members will decide on Tuesday next week (May 14) whether to give the plans the green light.

The town has already been subject to other various transport and housing plans such as proposals to construct a relief road directing traffic away from the high street and development of 37 retirement apartments on the wider application site.
Pyrton Parish Council has objected to the development on the basis it "provides no social or economic benefit".
A representative added: "Proposals would not comply with Pyrton Neighbourhood Plan Policy H1 in respect of requirement to consult with local community, provision of affordable housing, density and character; concerns about traffic and accessibility.
"The care home that already has permission should be built."
No objections have been raised from other key stakeholders but Watlington Parish Council still pointed to a few concerns.
A representative had said in a first consultation they had some concerns "the care home, with associated community and employment benefits would not be provided; open space provision would be inadequate" and car parking would be "dominant and may impact amenity".
One objection was received under the category 'Residents and local businesses' which suggested there had been a "lack of consultation with local residents".
A developer planning paper says: "The density, design and layout of the scheme is appropriate to the site’s immediate context, having regard to its edge of settlement location, the character of Pyrton and surrounding historic and natural landscape, as well as the imminent development immediately west of the site which is due to deliver 100 new dwellings.
"The proposals continue to deliver specialist elderly accommodation in a location that has good access to services and facilities as required by development plan policy, providing an extension to the already completed accommodation immediately north.
"The proposals seek to diversify and boost the supply of housing in the district, a key benefit in its own right which is heightened due to the Council’s questionable housing land supply position."
Submitted plans also include details about communal facilities, landscaping and 28 car parking spaces.
An district council officer said of the application: "The Watlington Neighbourhood Plan allocates three housing sites in an arc north and west of the town.
"These will deliver a minimum of 238 new homes over the plan period.
"The Neighbourhood Plan also safeguards land for an edge road to reduce the volume of traffic in the town centre and lead to an improvement in air quality.
"The Watlington Neighbourhood Plan policies are not directly applicable to this site as it is outside of its designated area."
