SANDARS Professor Patrick George Henry Passed away peacefully in Oxford on 26th April 2013. Very loving husband to Patricia, much loved father to Patrick and Andrew and adored grandfather to Georgia and Naomi. The funeral service will take place at Oxford Crematorium on Tuesday, May 7th at 14:15. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, please to Diabetes UK. I consider Professor Patrick Sandars as one of the legends of modern atomic physics. I was fortunate to have worked with him closely for about a decade. What stood out about him was his incomparable ability to analyse a problem and pursue it to its logical conclusion. He was an outstanding mentor who earned the respect and admiration of his junior colleagues like me. He will be dearly missed by those who were close to him, but he will live through his immortal contributions to atomic and molecular physics.
