ABOUT 30 protesters gathered outside the Old Bailey yesterday morning ahead of the Bullfinch trial sentencing.
The group, Women Against Rape, chanted slogans, waved banners and handed out fliers to passing members of the public after arriving at 10.15am.
The group are campaigning for action to be taken against police and social services, who they claimed had not acted to prevent the abuse.
The group also accused the media of focusing on the race of the nine defendants during the trial.
Lisa Longstaff, from London, of Women Against Rape, said: “We got a good reaction from people passing by outside the court. They understood why we were there.”
Ms Longstaff said the group was working with the Black Women’s Rape Action Project and added: “We are calling for the sacking of the chief executive of Oxfordshire County Council and the Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police.”
County council spokesman Paul Smith said the council would make a statement regarding the sentencing today.
