House prices in the county continued to rise last month to a new record high of £254,414.

The figure was 0.3 per cent up on the £253,808 recorded in January by the Government’s Land Registry.

It is the ninth successive rise, although the rate of increase appears to have slowed compared to recent months.

The annual rate of increase remained stable at 4.5 per cent.

Nationally, the average price of a property now stands at £170,000.
