THE jobs of more than 100 workers at a cake-making business have been saved after it was bought out of administration.

The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys in Witney has been acquired by Dutch bakery group Daelmans after being put into the hands of administrators last Friday.

Bosses led by new managing director Richard Cooper say up to 120 jobs are secure at the factory on the Station Lane industrial estate.

Last night, Mr Cooper was unavailable for comment.

But in a statement, Thijmen Peter de With, general manager Daelmans Group, said: “Fabulous Bakin’ Boys has great potential and will benefit from the investment and re-invigoration that an established bakery company such as Daelmans Group can provide.”

The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys was originally formed as the Delicious Donut Company in 1989 by Gary Frank, a former Wall Street trader and Oxford University philosophy graduate who lost everything on the New York stock exchange in 1987.

Ten years later it was operating from its £2m 60,000 sq ft bakery and its product range went on to be sold in supermarkets nationwide.

In 2011 it was voted the West Oxfordshire Business of the Year and currently has a £14m turnover.
