WANTAGE MP Ed Vaizey will launch a jobs fair next Friday at Milton Park, near Didcot.

The event has been organised by park managers, Mr Vaizey and the Didcot Jobcentre Plus to find jobs in the area for residents.

Some 12 companies have confirmed they will attend, including Asda, Sainsbury’s, Freedom Care, The Army, Soll Leisure, and agencies Recruitment Solutions, and Hays. It will run from 10am to 2pm.

Mr Vaizey said: “I’m thrilled with the response we’ve had to the job fair.

“We hope that we can connect employers who need to find the right staff and those people in the local area who are looking.”

Leigh Vaughan, employer adviser of Didcot Jobcentre Plus added: “The signs are good as we have had lots of interest from many companies who are looking to recruit.”

At a summer jobs fair in Abingdon, Mr Vaughan said about 320 people had attended. A similar number were expected at Milton Park, he added.

Some 250 organisations are based at the park, which is within the Government’s Science Vale UK Enterprise Zone.

Mr Vaizey is to discuss how the enterprise zone has increased jobs “significantly” in the area and will also talk to representative from park firms.
