BUSINESS leaders are urging Oxfordshire firms to shout about their successes.

Marking the launch of its Made in Oxfordshire campaign, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce chief executive Paul Britton said: “We want everyone to shout about what is good about Oxfordshire’s business community and how it is punching well above its weight.”

And he warned that with all eyes on the so-called Northern Power house and recent investment in northern counties, “this campaign is more important than ever”.

TVCC’s head of marketing Ginette Gower said the focus would be on local, regional and international businesses based or founded in the county.

Good news stories will be shared through TVCC’s website, social media including Twitter and Facebook and regular business breakfasts.

Ms Gower added: “We wanted to take this a step further helping promote the fantastic work local companies are carrying out, which includes a dedicated page on our website and a comprehensive social media programme.”

The campaign, launched last week, is part of a national Made in’ programme being launched by Chamber of Commerce groups across the UK.

Local firms and Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to take pop-up stands and promote their products and services to other businesses.

Businessman Brendan Cross, who runs STL in Witney, said the biggest plus-points for him was that the county has three enterprise zones.

He pointed out: “The quality of human resources in Oxfordshire is excellent, so it is a great place to recruit.”
