Tesco bids to extend superstore (From The Oxford Times)

Do they really think anyone will believe plans like this came up almost overnight ?
Tesco do themselves no favours with this apparent arrogance.

Methinks Mr Petar spoke with 'forked tongue' - though obviously not from their former Garden Centre! When will local Councils wake-up to the huge destructive forces which the main UK supermarkets now threaten entire neighbourhoods, small local retailers and the very fabric and structure of our communities with? In the USA, the likes of Walmart (Asda in the UK) have decimated entire communities - and 'job creation' has become a myth, at the expense of decent full-time work and where local independent butchers, bakers and many other trades (even prteol stations) have simply vanished. As for UK supermarkets offering fresh produce, tell that to the British farmers who they rip-off. We all seem to want 'cheap' everything - and the likes of Tesco are there to pander to our wishes ...... and to make obscene profits. They have only suffered recently where (mainly) their US operation has failed to provide the same really gross profit margins as enjoyed in the UK. Remember, every 'convenience store' which the likes of Tesco opens, means that their customers are paying to open and run them, and the local communities are probably seeing local retailers put out of business.

Surprised they're allowed to add anything on such a flood-risk area. Although I am a confirmed Tesco hater, if it's really as small as they say it is, I can't see it'll make a huge difference. However, Tesco and truthfulness don't often go hand in hand................

Is this really a story or just the OM implying they were lied to? Maybe they should realise that things change in business and what is said one week may change the next.

Perhaps, after the Oxford Mail made enquiries at the head office in April - it brought to their attention the potential for expanding the store.

It's a shame the Oxford store keeps missing out on extensions.

Why do seemingly innocuous comments keep being deleted? I am sure this comment is a waste of time too but you never know....
