Sales of the Cowley-built Mini rose by seven per cent in the first half of the year, figures from parent company BMW have revealed.
A total of 151,875 cars were sold globally with the largest Countryman model putting in a strong performance with 49,588 models leaving showrooms, up 23.4 per cent on the same period last year.
But despite the upbeat performance from Mini and other models, BMW’s pre-tax profits for the period to the end of June slipped by 6.9 per cent to £3.19bn with the company blaming higher personnel costs, increased development expenditure and intense market competition.
