PASS the parcel is a big part of every child’s birthday party, but staff at The Fishes in North Hinksey had something else to celebrate yesterday.
The pub’s parent company, Peach, won Caterer.com’s Best Employer in Hospitality Award for the fourth year running at an awards ceremony in London on Monday.
To mark the victory a parcel containing all the awards was passed between their pubs.
The Fishes was fifth in line and manager Owain Jones collected the parcel when it was brought to the pub by staff from The Thatch in Thame before taking it to The Fleece in Witney.
He said: “It’s awesome to win the award because it is the team who work here who voted and they have gone out of their way to do that.
“It was great fun and it has been a bit of a giggle. A glass of prosecco at 10.30am is never a bad thing!’’
