A PUB on Didcot’s Ladygrove estate is getting a revamp worth more than £100,000.

The Ladygrove pub, in Cow Lane, closed for the refurbishment on November 17 and will reopen on Friday.

The Hungry Horse pub is owned by Greene King and run by John Colthird and wife Tina.

Improvements include a new bar and restaurant layout, and there will also be new carpets, new flooring and and redecoration.

Mr Colthird, who has managed the pub for almost a decade, said: “The pub needed brightening up and this will be just the job.

“We are hoping to keep the disruption to a minimum and plan to reopen on Friday, when we invite everyone to come along and take a look at the changes.

“The locals around here are very loyal — we are here to serve the estate and it takes a while to get anywhere else.

“People on the estate don’t want to go too far, particularly when it’s cold during the winter.”

Hungry Horse is Greene King’s range of family pubs. Greene King spokesman Richard Jones confirmed the revamp was for a six-figure sum but would not elaborate.

In 2012 Mr Colthird helped start a Pubwatch scheme in Didcot, with landlords pledging to help police cut alcohol-related crime.
