County jobless figure falls again

The number of people out of work and claiming benefit in Oxfordfshire has fallen for the third month in a row.

Latest figures for May relased by the Office of National Statistics, show 7,295, or 1.7 per cent of the working age population are claiming benefits, down 318 on the previous month and 324 on May 2011.

All five Oxfordshire local districts recorded a fall in the number of claimants.

Nationally the UK total fell by 26,141 compared to April 2012 to 1,590,708, up 85,795 on the same month last year.
