A new hotel and spa complex with the added attraction of a top quality golf course has opened near Thame.

The 50-bedroom development at the Oxfordshire Golf Club features a 15-metre pool, spa and restaurant overseen by head chef Richard Buy.

Jennifer Gibbons, joint owner of the development with husband Tim, has overseen the project, which is designed to be a contemporary interpretation of traditional English country house style.

She said: “Paul and I have put our hearts and souls into this because we want it to be perfect.

“The hotel has a country club feel, with soft furnishing and fabrics in the rooms.”

The Oxfordshire (pictured) is managed by Tim Pettifer, 51, former general manager of luxury hotel Cliveden House in Berkshire.

He said: “This is a very good period for us to be opening. Being this close to Oxford — and London Oxford Airport — we will be top of the list for luxury tourism and business travel, especially for those interested in trying a championship golf course during their stay.”

He added that the UK golf travel industry has recently been helped by the strong euro which has led to golfers booking breaks in the UK.
