A restaurant owner is celebrating after two of his restaurants were shortlisted for the prestigious British Curry Awards.

Angur Miah was delighted that The Dil Raj in Abingdon was in the top ten and The Vine and Spice in Long Wittenham was shortlisted in the newcomers category of the South East finals in the awards which attracted 68,000 UK entries.

Mr Miah said: "Due to the high number of entries for these awards I am delighted that two of our restaurants have managed to get into the finalist category.

"It is a tribute to the hard work of our staff and the innovative, high quality food which our chefs produce.

"I think the reason for our success is that the food is modern with the emphasis on healthy Indian and fusion dishes but the service is always traditional and yet friendly."
