HOUSES in Oxford have begun to fill with water and more are expected to flood today, according to the Environment Agency.

Water levels on the River Thames and Seacourt Stream are still rising.

The Environment Agency is predicting homes in Osney and Minns estate, Botley Road, will suffer from flooding.

Earlier today, it was said the city would avoid further flooding and the Environment Agency predicted the water would not rise sufficiently enough to damage properties.

Some houses in Osney have already been invaded by rising water, a spokesman said.

"We measure river levels every 15 minutes. This has lead to a change in prediction for property flooding in Oxford area.

"The levels are expected to continue to rise until 1.15pm tomorrow and peak in Seacourt Stream at 11pm this evening."

John Kelly, Oxfordshire's emergency planning officer, said there are currently no plans to evacuate.
