Boxes and Bump
Our moving day is Friday! Everything is upside down and we’re surrounded by boxes. Obviously packing takes 100 times longer than you’d imagine so every evening after work, we’re frantically packing – I’m exhausted!!
I really feel handicapped by my bump now. It’s very frustrating when I pack a box then have to call my other half to come and move it for me. He was out the other day so I had to leave the full boxes where they stood so the room became like an obstacle course. You have to be so organised as well which isn’t very easy with a pregnant brain! I couldn’t find my shoe the other morning so was running late for work. How undignified did I feel scrabbling around on the floor looking under the bed – very hard with a big bump. Turning over in bed is also very ungracious – it’s a five point turn ending up with a big thud which my partner isn’t very impressed about!
Everyone keeps saying “oh I bet you can’t wait just to have it out now” or along those lines anyway. It’s not true and I would feel guilty to think like that. The birth of a baby is an incredible thing but so is being pregnant for the woman involved, especially when it is your first. I think people seem to forget about that and I would hate to wish away these really special months. What I can’t wait for is to be able to sit back and enjoy my pregnancy without having to worry about anything else. In a couple of weeks, I reduce to 3 days a week at work before finishing 4 weeks before baby is due on 7 December. That will make a huge difference and I’ll be able to get some proper rest.
My back is beginning to throb constantly when I’m sat at my desk at work. I’m propped up by pillows and I’ve got a hot water bottle which does help. It makes the day last a lot longer when you are very uncomfortable. I’ve got to stick it out though as every penny counts. Tomorrow I’m going for a special “Mum to Be” massage which I’m sure will help. I don’t want to sound like I’m moaning as I really am enjoying being pregnant and I think I’ll actually miss it when the baby is born! I love my bump and get a real buzz everything time I feel the baby move. It’s crazy to think there’s a baby in there and apparently it’s 10 inches long from crown to rump!!!
