Serious about pizza

Fire & Stone is currently one of the most exciting restaurant concepts in London and following on from the phenomenal success of its original Covent Garden and Westfield restaurants it launched its third restaurant just before Christmas — in Oxford’s George Street. Fire & Stone creates unique pizzas with exciting and contemporary toppings, inspired by the different continents of the world, and offers a choice of more than 25 different varieties of pizza, including a fantastic range for vegetarians.

The list of pizza temptations includes The Peking — Chinese hoisin sauce, shredded aromatic duck, mozzarella and spring onions topped with cucumber ribbons; The New York — crispy oven-roasted smoked bacon, mozzarella, Fire & Stone’s tomato sauce, garlic & rosemary roast potatoes and caramelised onion jam, topped with sour cream and smoked paprika, and The Dessert Pizza — red wine poached pear pizza, caramel base topped with vanilla ice cream.

All Fire & Stone pizzas are made from scratch every day using only the freshest ingredients and are priced competitively, between £6 and £9.

As an alternative to pizza, the menu offers salads such as the Super Foods Salad — hot smoked salmon, organic sprouts and alfalfa, watercress, rocket, broccoli, toasted hazelnuts, green beans, citrus and olive oil dressing, or Greek Salad with fresh sliced red and green peppers, red onion, cucumber, vine tomatoes, dressed with aged red wine vinegar and olive oil, topped with barrel-aged feta & fresh oregano.

Fire & Stone Oxford has an impressive glass-fronted entrance, where visitors will be greeted by a spectacular view of the giant mirrored wood-fired pizza oven.It towers up from the basement level to meet the ceiling of the top floor.

Walking into the restaurant, diners will have a choice of dining on the ground floor with views onto George street or descend down the large spiral staircase circling the oven, offering views of the pizzas cooking within (courtesy of the raised open-plan kitchen) before delivering them to a stylish and modern dining room fitted with reclaimed timber and bright uses of colour, integrated through orange-backed booths and a central banquette seating arrangement in the colours of the Fire & Stone logo.
