Sir – I am grateful for your exposition of the severe financial challenges Oxfordshire County Council and fellow local authorities will have to face in coming years (Report, July 22). Your editorial on the subject was thoughtful and accurately summarised the dilemmas ahead.

I was also grateful that you alluded to the ‘Big Debate’ that the county council is conducting to offer people the chance to contribute to our future decision making process on how the inevitable deep cuts can be handled. However the one thing your coverage missed was the web address through which people can have a say. It is www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/bigdebate There is plenty of useful information there that will help people gather their thoughts and provide informed feedback. I would encourage all Oxfordshire residents to give us their thoughts.
