Sir – I write with reference to Christopher Farman’s letter (August 26) concerning a possible link between the Russian spy ‘Sonya’ and Sir Roger Hollis.

My aunt, Margery Beeching, worked at Blenheim in MI5 during the Second World War and continued in similar work thereafter in Kenya, Sierra Leone and Fiji before their independence. There were no flies on her.

If she ever heard words against the loyalty and patriotism of Roger Hollis, she could barely contain her fury. To her, he was the very soul of both.
