Sir – How thoughtful and courageous of Mrs Woodward to demonstrate solidarity with me (Letters, April 26).
I like to think that in a small way writing letters to the editor does make a difference, by inspiring thought and encouraging debate. Mrs Woodward mentioned “raising her head above the parapet” in writing her letter. I think it is a shame that parapets exist at all . . .
