Buckingham is a vibrant market town, situated in North Buckinghamshire, about 10 miles from the border with Northamptonshire. Home to Britain's first modern independent University, the town also enjoys close links to the internationally famous Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit and the magnificent Stowe Landscape Gardens. The town of Buckingham and surrounding villages enjoy pleasant North Buckinghamshire countryside with many attractive streets forming part of the town and many fine village locations, characterised by period properties with mellow coloured local stone and timber framed, steeply pitched thatched roofs. Buckingham has a variety of restaurants and pubs, typical of a small market town. It has a small number of local shops, both national and independent. Market days are Tuesday and Saturday, with a farmers' market held on the first Tuesday of each month.

The town is well located to local communications with train links to London via Bicester North and Milton Keynes, and road via the A5, M40 and M1 to the north and south.
