Independent agent scraps commission

Vendors could save thousands of pounds through an estate agent’s pledge to sell their properties without charging any commission.

Independently owned White Walls in Hollybush Row is making the offer to house owners in the OX3 area.

It is part of a promotion that ran through October and November offering a similar service for the OX4 area.

The OX3 scheme will run from January 3 until March 1 but prospective sellers can pre-register this month.

Rupert Lister, managing director of White Walls, said: “During January and February, White Walls will market and sell homes in the OX3 area at no charge.

“This is a campaign that will gather momentum as more people become aware of it and of us as a company. We had a fantastic response to the OX4 offer and clients saved themselves an awful lot of money.

“We did have the odd sceptic until they realised it was about us raising our brand awareness.

After OX3, we plan to move on to OX2.”

Mr Lister says vendors can save £6,600, based on average house prices and estate agent fees in the OX3 area.
