Tristan Pate asks for support for Cherwell Theatre Productions

Robin Hood and his Merry Men are in big trouble! The cowardly King John and his wicked Queen have taxed the townsfolk of Nottingham down to the last groat, and the evil Sheriff has tightened the net on Robin and his men!

To avoid capture, the outlaws have disbanded. All seems hopeless, and to make matters worse, a plucky young group of heroines led by the fearless Maid Marian and calling themselves The Sisterhood have sprung up in Sherwood Forest, bent on taking up the mantle, robbing the rich to feed the poor, and standing up to the King and his evil cronies… Will the girls win this day? Or can Robin and Little John bury the hatchet and fight the common cause? Will his feeble brother Will Scarlett find his place among the outlaws? And will Robin’s poor old mother ever find herself a man?

In January 2015 Cherwell Theatre Company return to The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury for their tenth consecutive festive production: Robin Hood: The Panto.

Building on the sucesses of last year’s Aladdin, and to mark this anniversary year, Robin Hood looks set to be our most ambitious project yet, with a cast of 20 wacky characters, orginal songs and a newly comissioned script co-written by CTC regulars Tristan Pate, Penny Tasker and Neil Hobson.

This year’s production promises to include Cherwell Theatre Company’s trademark mix of theatricality, creativity, and originality, with all of the magic of a traditional pantomime, packed with jokes, slapstick comedy, hilarious songs, and loveable characters.

As always, the cast will consist of a number of professional actors as well as members of our enthusiastic and talented youth groups, providing our young aspiring performers an invaluable opportunity to work alongside industry professionals in a challenging, learning environment.

The show will run from the 10th-18th of January at The Mill Arts Centre, with weekday schools performances at 10am and 1pm, and a mix of evening and weekend shows, as well as our popular Sunday afternoon timeslots from last year.
