Calligrapher Andy Moore is exhibiting his work at two venues near to Oxford over the next fortnight. From Saturday until Wednesday inclusive the exhibition will be at St Saviour’s Church, Tetbury, and from Saturday August 7-14 inclusive at St Katharine’s Church, Chiselhampton. Opening times are 10am to 5pm and admission is free. All the work is for sale.
Andy explained: “A wide variety of work will be displayed. A lot of my calligraphy is stimulated by my interest in architecture, history and literature and a number of the works relate to Devon, Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire [including the collage of Chiselhampton — pictured]. Some others relate to John Betjeman.”
Both churches are in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. Andy said: “I feel that it is a good thing for such churches to be used in a variety of ways. Hopefully, everyone coming along will enjoy the churches and the calligraphy.”
Much of Andy’s work is commissioned. For example, he is about to start on the second of two pieces for the National Trust at Stowe in Buckinghamshire.
He said: “I will be present at all times and more than happy to discuss any ideas about commissions, whether large or small.”
