Three internationally recognised sculptors have brought their work together to create an interesting, successful and complementary exhibition in an attractive and sympathetic Artweeks setting in South Fawley, near Wantage.

Mark Guest works exclusively in a wide variety of stone, carving in an immediate and intuitive fashion and in the process creates beautifully considered and balance shapes. His work acts as a foil for Wesley Jacobs’s quirky pieces of abstract sculpture. Jacobs uses reclaimed and found objects for casting and fabricating his sculptures. His passion for tools and machinery is obvious in his work, in which he cleverly presents the relationship between past and future, old and new. This can be seen in his piece Stepstill, above, which brings together an interesting assortment of found materials refashioned into a unique definitive shape.

Johannes Von Stumm’s works on show, include Wickerwork, Crossed Sticks and Disk III. In each he combines glass, metal and stone to create very stylish, positive and distinctive finished pieces.

The studio opening provides a unique opportunity to experience the interplay between the three bodies of work and to talk with the sculptors about the pieces and the skills and techniques they employ.

The opening runs from Saturday until May 27, each day from noon till 6pm.
