Queens Of The Stone Age, Paramore, Vampire Weekend and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis join bill at Reading and Leeds...

US rockers Queens Of The Stone Age and pop-rock act Paramore have been announced as the surprise co-headline act for the opening night of this year's Reading Festival.

The sets, which will be repeated at Reading's sister-festival in Leeds the following night, will be their only UK performances of 2014.

They join headliners pop-punk legends Blink-182, who also perform their only UK shows of  the year at Reading on the Sunday (and Leeds on Friday), and Arctic Monkeys who will take to the stage at Reading on Saturday (Leeds on Sunday).

Other additions to the bill include Grammy Award-winning Vampire Weekend, hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Imagine Dragons, Foster The People, and Deaf Havana. They join previously announced acts You Me At Six, Jake Bugg, Disclosure and Courteeners.

Other fresh signings for the three-day festival, just over the Oxfordshire border at Little John's Farm, include Bombay Bicycle Club, electronic pop group Chvrches, chart toppers Clean Bandit, London duo Jungle, Klaxons, David Rodigan, Lower Than Atlantis, Boys Noize, Danny Brown, Eagulls and The Fat White Family.

Bolstering an impressive programme of dance music are Australian superstar Flume and rock/drum ‘n’ bass band Pendulum. They join Netsky Live.

A festival spokesman said: "With many more acts to be announced in the coming weeks, this year promises to be one of the best yet for the UK’s best festival."
