Stuart Earp takes a trip back to his rock & roll youth at the hands of Voodoo Room

FANS of sixties rock heroes Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience were given a rare treat at the Jericho Tavern as Voodoo Room produced some magic for the pub's regular Monday Night Blues.
Led by Phil Orr's stunning lead guitar - let's face it, Hendrix and Eric Clapton are not the easiest acts to follow - and backed by pro session drummer John Tonks and the driving bass of Andy Tolman, they stormed through Cream classics Strange Brew, I'm So Glad and Badge, plus a stomping version of N.S.U. and more.
Hendrix followers were well catered for via Voodoo Chile, All Along the Watchtower and Purple Haze, to name but three.
They won't be back in Oxford for a while, but if you get the chance to see these accomplished musicians, don't miss out. They deserved better than the 20 or so wrinklies who were there for this show.
