One of Oxford’s great unsung success stories, the epic-pop-rock duo A Silent Film, have announced their return with a new self-titled album.

A Silent Film, the pair’s third full-length album, will be released on November 9 on their own Silent Songs label.

Frontman Rob Stevenson and drummer Spencer Walker are big news in America, and have toured with the likes of as OneRepublic, Civil Twilight, Smashing Pumpkins and Temper Trap.

Festival appearances have included a rapturously-received set at Glastonbury.

Rob says the aim of the new work was to write and record a collection of songs that had their own identity and didn’t drift off to follow current trends.

“Our mission was to please ourselves first and foremost, while never compromising our initial instincts,” he says.

“Pushing ourselves further than we have before has allowed us to write the kind of music we can see ourselves enjoying playing live more than ever.

"The debut single Lightning Strike feels like the song we have been trying to write for years,”
