The dapper, waistcoat-clad bluesy rock and roll combo play a hometown show at this Corn Street venue, alongside Nicky Petherwick.

Expect strong vocals, loud guitars and a hip-hop sensibility to a gritty take on garage rock.

Grime
Big Narstie
O2 Academy Oxford
Saturday
Ticketweb.co.uk

Big Narstie is a giant of the UK grime scene (in more ways than one; he also happens to be a big lad).

The Brixton-based Brushman star has been nominated for strings of awards – including one for best grime act – and is set to be a very big name to be reckoned with.

Punk-pop
John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett
Old Fire Station, Oxford
Next Thursday
oxfordplayhouse.com

Expect knockabout humour and crackling banter from two veterans of pop-punk with strong local ties.

While Otway’s silliness and ability to entertain is the stuff of legend, Wild Willy is a more complex character. A musician of note, he only really ended up with the (now) two-hit wonder because they lived in Aylesbury, and played in Oxford.

After a stormy few decades, the on/off relationship is back on track and the two live icons are heading to George Street. Be very afraid!

Americana
Case Hardin & Co-Pilgrim
Fat Lil’s, Witney
Next Thursday
fatlils.co.uk

There’s a great night of country-rock and Americana in store when Case Hardin rock up to play tunes from last year’s album Colours Simple – their fourth long-player – along with other live faves from the hard-touring UK band. Support comes from the superlative Co-Pilgrim, featuring the talents of singer-songwriter Mike Gale and Steventon’s Joe Bennett – also a member of Oxford’s soulful country-rockers The Dreaming Spires.
