Big news for computer gaming fans, with the start this week of the ‘Glastonbury of gaming’ – Insomnia 61.

The four-day feast of all things digital gets underway at the Birmingham NEC on Friday, with a host of big-name YouTubers also popping in to meet fans.

They include one of the biggest names of all, DanTDM

With 16 million subscribers, DanTDM is known for his Minecraft vlogging and live stage touring, and to his devotees is bigger than any pop or film star. He will be hosting meet and greet sessions on Saturday and Sunday (check insomniagamingfestival.com for availability).

As well as meet and greets, DanTDM will be appearing on the Insomnia61 main stage on Saturday and Sunday, playing games and answering questions in front of a live audience. Fans will also be able to get their hands on a range of DanTDM merchandise at the show.

Joining him will be the cream of British gaming YouTubers with Call of Duty star Ali A, who has amassed nine million subscribers for his entertaining videos, attending the festival on Sunday and Monday.

Insomnia-favourite Syndicate will also be there all weekend, participating in stage shows, panel talks and Q&A sessions.

Other big names from the world of YouTube gaming – including Minecraft stars iBallistic Squid, BigBStatz and AmyLee.

Insomnia61 features the latest games and technology and a dedicated VR Zone. Also expect a Minecraft zone, cosplay zone, retro zone and a brand new Head 2 Head zone.

Plus for fans of esports, there is a whole hall dedicated to BYOC (bring your own computer) and competitive gaming.

A highlight will be the UK’s largest robot championship, with the first ever iSeries Drone Racing Grand Final hosted at the festival. The best drone pilots in the world will race around a bespoke indoor track at lightning speeds of over 100mph.
