Wines For Autumn case, £62

3:50pm Thursday 18th October 2007

The season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is with us again, and as the leaves turn copper and the squirrels start to bury their winter food, here are a few goodies to put in the wine rack for now and the coming weeks that go with this season's foods.

The Wines for Autumn case costs £62 and includes three bottles each of the following four wines:

Rattler Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, California: Full bodied and powerful, this wine has combined aromas of ripe plums, dried figs and cedar that explodes with rich flavours of plums, blackberries and cassis.

Boschendal Pavillon Cabernet/Merlot 2005, South Africa: This classic blend works well as the merlot softens the cabernet to produce a striking and well poised wine with superb vanilla and blackcurrant flavours.

Santiago Merlot 2006, Chile: Made in Chile's famous Maipo Valley, this 100 per cent merlot has ultra soft, mellow and fruitful wine, loads of juicy fruit and flavours of plums and raspberries.

Kingston Wildlife Shiraz/Cabernet 2006, Australia: Eucalyptus and blackcurrant abound in this well structured and fruity wine that shows rich warming berry fruit, hints of tobacco and a long aromatic finish.
