Man suffers head injury after gun incident at Milton Heights Services
9:20am Tuesday 23rd October 2012 in News
A MAN suffered a head injury in a gun incident at the Milton Heights Services yesterday afternoon.
The man was spotted with an air rifle near the BP service station just before 4pm.
He was later taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.
Last night police could not say if he had injured himself, but the ambulance service said the wound was not life-threatening.
The A4130 was closed both ways after the incident and the BP garage was also shut.
Supt Chris Sharp, Oxford police commander, said: “I am aware there has been speculation on social networking sites about this incident.
“I would like to reassure the community that at no time during this incident was a threat posed to the wider public and no-one else was injured.
“However, nearby areas were cordoned off while police dealt with the incident.”
Three ambulance service vehicles were sent to administer first aid to the man before he was taken to hospital.
