THE history of cinema has been celebrated in Witney at the town’s annual film festival.
An exhibition at St Mary’s Church on Thursday took a look at the century-old art form and its presence in Witney.
Displays included a projector from 1912 and film posters from the town’s former Palace cinema, now a Wetherspoons pub The were also film and news clips from the 1940s to the present day and a documentary about Witney blanket firm Early’s.
Witney Film Festival opened last Monday and has featured five days of film screenings and exhibitions at venues across the town.
Organiser Jenny Learney said: “It has gone really, really well and people have really enjoyed it.
“The festival gives film makers an opportunity to get involved and get their films screened.”
