A 21-YEAR-OLD woman has died following a collision on the A40.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a Ford KA collided with the woman from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, on the Oxford-bound carriageway of the A40 between Forrest Hill and Thornhill Park and Ride at about 10.30pm on Monday night.
It is believed the woman’s body was also struck by other vehicles. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Pc James Mahony, of the Abingdon-based Joint Roads Policing Unit, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this woman walking along the unlit section of the A40 heading towards Oxford just before 10.30pm.
“We would also like to speak to anyone who did not stop but who thinks that they may have struck something in the carriageway at around that time and place, but were not aware that it was a person.
“We would ask anyone who has any information about this collision to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
Anyone with any information should call Pc Mahony on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
