Some good news on the Flood Warning front. Environment Agency has taken the following off:

• River Thames in Abingdon
• River Thames and tributaries at Kennington near Oxford
• River Thames and tributaries at New Botley, New and North Hinksey and Grandpont in Oxford
• River Thames and tributaries in the Binsey, Osney and Osney Island areas in Oxford
• River Thames and tributaries at Wolvercote in Oxford
• River Thames between Newbridge and Kings Lock above Oxford including Northmoor, Stanton Harcourt, Bablock Hythe and caravan park, Eynsham, Swinford and Yarnton.

It means there are no rivers on Flood Warning in the county, except stretches of the Thames south of Wallingford.

However the following Flood Alerts are still in place:

Abingdon Road in Oxford is now open in both locations, Oxfordshire County Council has just announced.

Following sweeping and gritting by Oxfordshire County Council, southbound traffic is now free to use Abingdon Road and northbound traffic can drive up it as far as Weirs Lane.

The Oxford Bus Company has announced that passengers are now able to leave Oxford heading south and travel on their normal routes  along Abingdon Road to Redbridge.

Buses travelling into the city will now divert along Weirs Lane and Donnington Bridge, before travelling north along the Iffley Road.

The services affected are the Park and Ride 300, the city, X3 and X13 and the 35.

The company is warning traffic will extremely heavy on the remaining routes into the city and passengers may face delays.

It added that there is also likely to be heavy congestion in the city centre and traffic delays can still be expected.

The flooding around Culham has also retreated and the 32 Thames Travel bus service has been able to return to its normal route.

Abingdon Rd is now open southbound. It is still closed northbound between the Old Abingdon Rd and Weirs Lane junctions.

Given the partial re-opening of Abingdon Road, the bus gate restriction in High Street will be reintroduced from approximately 9am tomorrow.

FLOOD warnings are no longer in force along parts of the River Thames in Oxfordshire.

The Environment Agency has announced this afternoon that it is withdrawing its previous alerts at the following locations:

• The River Thames at Clifton Hampden, Dorchester and Little Wittenham
• The River Thames at Culham
• The  River Thames from Buscot Wick down to Shifford including Buscot, Kelmscott, Radcot, Lower Bampton area and Chimney Area

The Met Office is predicting more freezing temperatures and a very small chance of snow flurries for Oxfordshire tomorrow morning.

Scattered showers are also likely, with cooler weather bringing frost and ice from Monday.

Big news on Abingdon Road

A sweeper is being sent to Abingdon Road to clear debris and this will be followed by a gritter, according to Oxfordshire County Council.

The southbound side of Abingdon Road will then be re-opened to traffic leaving Oxford city this afternoon.

The northbound side will remain closed for today as surface water still poses a hazard in some areas – this situation will be monitored with a view to opening the road when possible.

Traffic joining Abingdon Road from Donnington Bridge Road will be able to travel along Abingdon Road either north or south.

Ferry Hinksey Road is now open in Oxford, however the traffic lights are still out so motorists are being advised to proceed with caution.

Southern Electric engineers are on site at the moment working on the fault.

Drivers can now access parts of Abingdon Road as temporary bollards preventing motorists from diverting through Fox Crescent have been removed.

A long stretch of Abingdon Road from Folly Bridge to the Kennington Roundabout remains closed to traffic, and we are being told county council officers and PCSOs are enforcing the cordon.

Oxford City Council took the decision to help traffic flow, and now a steady stream  of drivers are using the freed-up road.

"We are still unable to access the Abingdon Road in Oxford. As a result, diversions are still in place on the X3/X13/13 routes and 300 Park&Ride.

A number of Oxford to Paddington trains have also been cancelled, including the 8.06am.

Trains running through Oxford are now getting back to normal, says First Great Western, after floodwater on tracks between Kennington and Hinksey receded.

Passengers are still advised to check before setting out to stations as some trains may still be cancelled, delayed or revised at short notice until the end of service tonight.

Roads continue to be painful tonight. Oxfordshire County Council's congestion map indicates all major routes through and around the city suffering severe congestion.

The traffic lights at Ferry Hinksey Road and Botley Road in Oxford will remain off all night as engineers cannot access the power feed box.

The control wires are locked inside a county council-owned box which is currently cut off by flooding.

Engineers attempting to fix the problem today said they would try again tomorrow.

The lights were out for two days and coincided with the closure of flooded Ferry Hinksey Road on Tuesday.

More misery awaits rail passengers through Oxford tonight.

Flooding has disrupted travel for three days and the delays in place this morning are still in effect now.

The First Great Western .01 minutes past the hour Oxford to London Paddington services are cancelled.

As are .50 minutes past the hour London Paddington to Oxford services.

The .37 minutes past the hour Oxford to London Paddington will actually start at Didcot Parkway, and the .57 minutes past the hour London Paddington to Oxford will terminate at Didcot Parkway.

Any other trains travelling between Oxford and Reading may be delayed by up to 25 minutes.

We have recently taken this picture to give you an idea of the water level in Abingdon Road. Coincidentally we caught this motorist at the same time. To be clear: Abingdon Road is still shut, the council has requested police go back down so do not break the cordon.

Police are now heading to Abingdon Road to enforce the road closure.

Oxfordshire County Council said drivers ignoring the signs are causing waves that can damage houses.

The traffic lights at Ferry Hinksey Road and Botley Road are currently out of order.

Oxfordshire County Council said it was meeting with Southern Electric engineers at 3pm to try and resolve the problem.

On the subject of Abingdon Road there is still no news on when it is expected to re-open.

Met Office forecasts at the moment suggest -1 is the low overnight for Witney, -4 in Benson and 0 in Oxford.

Oxfordshire County Council said there are currently no issues with Botley Road, however it is closely monitoring the situation should it change.

The Oxford Bus Company has said that Kennington Road has reopened and the city35 service has returned to its normal route in that area.

The diversion because of the flooding on Abingdon Road is still in place, however.

Stagecoach Oxfordshire has said nothing has changed in regard to its services.

Flood Warning means flooding likely and you should take action

LONG delays are still being reported this morning on the A420 into Oxford and Botley Road as drivers try to avoid areas affected by flooding.

The major route from the south-west into the city is experiencing heavy congestion, with queues of around 25 minutes reported to be stretching as far back as Cumnor.

They are believed to be the result of the continued closure of Abingdon Road, as well as the partial closure of Seacourt park and ride, because of flood water.

Thames Valley Police said no accidents had been reported and the volume of traffic was responsible for the delays.

Stagecoach Oxfordshire have sent an update:

The following services are still subject to diversions due to the flooding on Abingdon Road.
Route 16 - We are unable to serve Abingdon Road or Donnington Bridge. Buses are running via Iffley Road. 
Buses are still picking up at St Aldate's stop H3 in the city centre.
Routes 31/34 - We are unable to serve Abingdon Road in Oxford. Buses are running via the ring road and Iffley Road. 
Buses are still picking up at St Aldate's stop H4 in the city centre.

The last update from Oxford Bus Company from first thing this morning is still applicable:

X3/X13 Abingdon services continue on diversion due to the closure of the Abingdon Road in Oxford.

300 Park&Ride to Redbridge is also diverted.

These services will go from St Aldate's in Oxford along High Street, Iffley Road and the bypass, up to Redbridge Park&Ride then back to the bypass and on the A34. Expect delays and longer journey time.

Seacourt Park&Ride car park remains closed, but the 400 service will continue to travel on its normal route.

Kidlington services have returned to normal.

X3/X13 and 300 Redbridge are still on diversion due to the closure of the Abingdon Road in Oxford.

Kennington 35 service is continuing on diversion Bagley Wood Road / Old Boar's Hill in both directions.

The Met Office has issued a an ice warning for Oxfordshire.

Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing overnight, and the public has been advised to take care on roads and pavements.

Our traffic service telling us Evans Lane in Kidlington closed due to flooding at Mill Street. Also affecting Queens Avenue at Cherwell Avenue.

However, we do not have that confirmed from Oxfordshire County Council.

THE Environment Agency has warned Oxfordshire residents against complacency.

There are currently four flood warnings in place in the Oxford area, however despite rain easing off river levels are still expected to rise.

Forecasts suggest the region will experience a dry but cold few days heading into the weekend, with a chance of frost, and residents have been told to remain vigilant as rivers are still responding to the heavy rainfall of the past week.

Spokesman Michelle Southby said: "After several days of heavy rain the ground is saturated and flood water from small watercourses continues to flow into larger rivers like the Thames.

"The Environment Agency is carefully monitoring the levels in these rivers and will issue flood warnings if necessary."

Levels along the Windrush and Evenlode rivers in Oxfordshire remain high but are stabilising.

These rivers are tributaries of the Thames and will continue to influence the rate of fall on the Thames.

Levels also remain high on the River Cherwell in the Oxford area.

Environment Agency-owned demountable defences also continue to be used at Vicarage Lane, Grandpont, Oxford and at Osney Island.

Pumps are used at Duke Street and Bridge Street in Oxford.

Oxfordshire County Council says its gritters will be out tonight from 7, but adds: "Icy patches may form even on gritted roads due to the amount of water so be extra careful."

To feed into that Met Office forecast is no rain but temperatures in Oxford to dip to 1degC. Out at Benson the forecast temperature is -1. Witney looking like 0-1.

Service update:
X3/X13 and 300 Redbridge are still on diversion due to the closure of the Abingdon Road in Oxford.
Kennington 35 service is continuing on diversion Bagley Wood Road / Old Boar's Hill in both directions.
Kidlington services are back on normal routes as Mill Street and Evans Lane have reopened.

Oxford Bus Company: Service Update:

X3/X13 Abingdon services continue on diversion due to the closure of the Abingdon Road in Oxford.
300 Park&Ride to Redbridge is also diverted.
These services will go from St Aldates in Oxford along High Street, Iffley Road and the bypass, up to Redbridge Park&Ride then back to the bypass and on the A34. Expect delays and longer journey time.

Seacourt Park&Ride car park remains closed, but the 400 service will continue to travel on its normal route.

Kidlington services have returned to normal.

Drivers can still use High Street in Oxford this morning because Abingdon Road is closed. Castle Street, George Street and Magdalen St East and West bus gate cameras are still in operation though.

All roads closed because of the flooding last night remain closed including Abingdon Road, Ferry Hinksey Lane and Binsey Lane.
Botley Road is still open but heavily flooded so drivers are advised to drive slowly.
The Seacourt park and ride remains closed. Updates to follow throughtout the day.
