Flat fire in Cowley Road

EMERGENCY services were sent to a fire in a flat in Oxford this evening.

Two fire engines were despatched to the first floor bedroom fire in Cowley Road at 5.26pm, one from the Slade and one from Rewley Road.

The fire involved some bedding and the ambulance service and police also attended.

No one was injured in the blaze.

At least they said "Oxford" this time to narrow it down to one of the two Cowley Roads inside the ring road.

Pretty awful journalism - whatever happened to 'who, what, where, when' and sub-editors with local knowledge appropriate to the area ehich the publication serves? If the Fire Brigade used such mediocre description, they'd never get to the fire, let alone put it out! Maybe time the Oxford Mail stopped playing 'musical chairs' with Staff and allowed both editorial and reporters time to gain local knowlege - not everything can be found by using Google or Google maps - and certainly not i-phones or US version of spellcheck!

As I remember there is Oxford Rd Cowley - and Cowley Road Oxford - the latter being going to the Plain. Howver - the article per se just said the fire was in Oxford - close enough! After all, only those involved really needed to know!
