Station parking restricted to clear streets
9:30am Friday 4th January 2013 in News
MEASURES to improve parking in streets around Didcot Parkway and Bicester North stations have been approved.
In Didcot, extra parking prohibitions will be introduced in White Leys Close, and in Haydon Road permanent parking prohibition will affect the east side between Lydalls Road and Station Road.
The proposals are aimed at preventing commuters from clogging up the streets.
County council cabinet member for transport Rodney Rose yesterday approved the plans, and also agreed in principle with a scheme for streets near Bicester North.
The authority will now ban parking on one side of certain roads from 11am to noon and on the other from noon to 1pm.
The restrictions are due to affect most of Woodfield Road, the southern section of Blake Road, Balliol Drive, Cedar Drive, Magdalen Close and part of Bassett Avenue.
But at the meeting yesterday, Mr Rose and officers agreed that further consultation with residents of certain streets in Bicester were needed after objections were received.
He said: “It looks like we do need a solution in some of the roads and I hope we will find one, but in the interim I will agree the recommendations.”
