Sharing can be a success
IAN Lenagan is no stranger to stadium sharing because his rugby league club Wigan Warriors shares its facilities with a football team.
Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic have both been playing at the DW Stadium since it was built in 1999.
Mr Lenagan said: “Sharing has gone extremely well at Wigan.
“I think Oxford United and London Welsh sit together well at the stadium and the people we have got taking care of the pitch are a step forward.”
The DW Stadium is owned by Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan, who purchased a gym opposite the Kassam Stadium in September.
Sharing a stadium doesn’t seem to have held either team back, with both Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors competing in the top tier of their respective sports.
Wigan Athletic FC declined to comment on how sharing the stadium had been going for them.
