Elderly woman broke both legs and suffered facial injuries in Banbury Road crash

AN elderly woman pedestrian broke both her legs and suffered serious facial injuries in a crash with a car in Oxford today.

Police have tonight confirmed the woman's injuries suffered in the crash that closed Banbury Road near its junction with Hearns Crescent for about 90 minutes.

She is 89 years old and is from the local area, Pc Tony Lee said. She was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and was tonight being treated for her injuries.

The crash just after 4.30pm involved a Toyota Corolla and its driver, a man, was described as shaken but uninjured by Pc Lee.

Pc Lee is appealing for any motorists or pedestrians who saw the accident to contact him.

He said: "We would ask if you were in the area at the time and may have seen anything to do with this incident we need to hear from you.

"While it was already dark when the incident happened, it was also a busy time on a late Saturday afternoon and there would have been lots of people about, who may have seen something."

Anyone with information can call Pc Lee on the police enquiry number 101.
