Lorry fire causes more misery for A34 commuters

By Joe Nimmo, Senior reporter. Call me on (01865) 425373.
A LORRY on fire is causing delays on the A34 northbound this morning.
Police and firefighters have were called at around 8.10am to the dual carriageway’s junction with the A4130 at the Milton Interchange.
They are currently dealing with a lorry crane which has caught fire and is blocking the slow lane.
Traffic is queuing back onto the northbound slip road and delays have also been reported on the A34 itself.

I hope the driver of the "lorry crane" is ok - no one wants to be in a burning vehicle

It generally IS a slow late because of all the fr*gging lorries which crawl along this road. Most of the time it is a single lane road as cars are forced into the outside lane, until you reach a hill and the lorry drivers decide to try and overtake each other with no consideration for other road users.

I like lorries - they bring me food and other things from far away. I'd like to thank all the lorry drivers who travel the A34 - the main north/south road in the area - while having to contend with speed limiters, and some car drivers (no names...). They are just people trying to do their job, to feed their families - they are not just out to slow other road users.

But surely if you are unable to reach a reasonable speed for over taking, then don't do it...especially on a hill. You create chaos by doing this and affect far more drivers negatively then anyone positively...other then just yourself of course.
