School part-closed due to problems with heating

AN ABINGDON secondary school is partially closed today because it has no heating or hot water.

Staff have been forced to temporarily shut John Mason School, in Wootton Road, to all pupils apart from those in years 10, 11, 12 and 13.

The specialist visual and performing arts school has advised parents to keep checking its website for updates, adding that further details and updates will be sent using its ParentMail service.

In a statement a school spokesman said: “We hope this situation will be resolved as soon as possible.”

It's not cold today. Wear a jumper and run around a bit, for goodness sake.

You are required to have hot water by law, which is why the school is shut. Had it just been the heating, it may have been ok. There are also rules for minimum temperature too and as the school has been shut for 2 weeks it is probably too cold. The problem was caused by workmen next door breaking a gas pipe
