A PAINTER and decorator who feared he might have cancer killed himself at a country park just outside Oxford.
Paul White was worried he had cancer but had not had a diagnosis, Oxford Coroner’s Court heard.
A pathologist later confirmed the 63-year-old had terminal cancer as well as problems with his thyroid.
Peter Clark, assistant deputy coroner for Oxfordshire, said members of the public found Mr White’s body in a car at Shotover Country Park on July 20. A letter was also found.
A statement from his GP, Dr Jonathan Bickford, said Mr White, from Elsfield, had a recent history of depression and had shown little response to medication.
The doctor said he had particular concerns that he might have a thyroid disease. Tests were conducted but came back clear.
Pathologist Prof Ian Roberts said Mr White had “locally advanced carcinoma of the gall bladder” which would have been fatal as well as thyroid problems.
Mr Clark said: “I’m satisfied that Mr White acted deliberately.”
He recorded a verdict that Mr White took his own life.
