RSPCA facing hunt questions

THE RSPCA is to meet the UK’s charity watchdog over concerns about its prosecution of Chipping Norton’s Heythrop Hunt.

The charity said it was reported to the Charity Commission by the Countryside Alliance over its action.

The hunt, Julian Barnfield and Richard Sumner admitted 12 charges of unlawful hunting with dogs at Oxford Magistrates’ Court last month.

Calie Rydings, of the RSPCA, said the Alliance reported the charity over “concerns about the prosecution”.

The Countryside Alliance was not available for comment.

Seems to me that prosecutions should be made by the Public Prosecutor, not the RSPCA.

However, if the Public Prosecutor fails in its duty then the RSPCA might well sue the DPP for incompetance.

I think the new Corporate RSPCA is looking for extra sources of income and publicity. It has forgotten its caring role and lost my support.

Some RSPCA donors will support this action and will be happy to keep donating and fundraising for these kind of prosecutions.

Some will not, that's fair enough, it's their choice to donate elsewhere.

The RSPCA should be stripped of both it's R and Charitable Status, then it can start paying tax, and earning it's own income. We will then see if it is so wasteful with it's money. It has lost it's way and is no longer even remotely related to it's primary cause. Ask the pensioner who's healthy cats* were destroyed by them and prosecuted for no good reason. * Certified by an independent Vet.

The charity wasn't reported by the CA - the RSPCA is not telling the truth. It was reported by some MPs
