Talk explores city wildlife haven
6:50pm Tuesday 15th January 2013 in News
THE treasure trove of wildlife found in Oxford’s Lye Valley will be explored in a talk tomorrow.
Dr Judy Webb will speak about the site of special scientific interest, and the fenland area called Hogley Bog it contains, to members of the Oxford Civic Society at Magdalen College Auditorium.
The talk at the Longwall Street venue starts at 7.30pm.
The site, between Cowley and Headington, has been an important area of research in botany for scientists from Oxford University since the 1600s.
Dr Webb’s talk will also look at how future development in Headington threatens the area.
All are welcome to the talk – tickets cost £4 for non-members at the door.
