THESE cuddly toys held by two-year-old Joe Barrett are just a few of the items donated during a playground’s toy “amnesty”.
Joe, from South Stoke, was visiting Abingdon’s Snakes and Ladders indoor playground, which is running an appeal for Oxford-based charity Helen and Douglas House this month. Families are being encouraged to drop off unwanted, but good quality, toys which will be sold in the charity’s shops.
His nanny Stacey Gunning, 24, from Didcot, said: “It is a really good thing and I think it is a really good cause. Now I can have a good sort out and donate some toys as well. “Children get so many for Christmas and don’t know what to do with the older ones.”
The amnesty, which has collected about 20 bags of toys so far, lasts until January 31.
Lowri Ross-Williams, manager, said: “We do it every year. It is a great idea, especially after Christmas.”
Those who make donations will get 15 per cent off child entry to the adventure playground in Audlett Drive.
