Ukip may sack branch leader
11:00am Tuesday 15th January 2013 in News
Dr Julia Gasper
UKIP activist Dr Julia Gasper could be sacked as Oxford branch chairman over alleged homophobic comments.
Dr Gasper was said to have called gay rights a “lunatics’ charter” in an online members’ forum.
The activist, who contested the Oxford East seat for Ukip at the last General Election, is also alleged to have said there was evidence to suggest a link between homosexuality and paedophilia.
Party press officer Gawain Towler said: “Dr Gasper’s status in the party is under review.”
She was not available for comment last night.

Not when those views are clearly offensive and have no basis in reality.
If this woman had said similar about a race of people she would be up in court.

For each person she may have offended, there will be a contra who agree with her.
You should not assume her views are 'clearly offensive'.

She did not say them about a race therefore she did not break the law, and of the two points she did make one is a matter of opinion for people to make up their own mind, and the second is an ongoing study by many organizations, with no data either way to prove or disprove. Although if you search the web you can find "data" to support what ever view you take.

It doesn't matter to him that many things homosexuals do are found "offensive" by other people. His idea of offensiveness is a one-way street. Why do heterosexuals have to tolerate obscene gay parades, and even pay for them?
True tolerance would be a 2-way thing but that is forgotten by the PC nutters.
As for gays not being paedophiles - you'd be surprised. What about Larry Brinkin? Adam Flanders? And loads of others. Shut up about what offends you Mr Cocteaut until you learn to respect the feelings of others.

"Free speech is threatened here. Whatever views a person has and whether or not they are considered extreme, they have the right to express them in a democracy.”
Free speech hasn't been threatened in any way by this affair. Dr Gasper's right to spout whatever drivel she chooses is (or should be) inviolable. The issue is rather her right to spout said drivel while standing in front of a big purple pound sign. Her offence isn't her homophobia, but her associating my party with homophobia.
