A FESTIVAL celebrated the start of the Indian harvest season at an Oxford hotel.

The Punjabi Lohri Festival featured traditional clothes, music, a bonfire and curries at The Tree Hotel in Iffley on Saturday night.

General manager Namit Julka said: “It is a way of saying goodbye to the winter and welcoming the harvest.”

Hotel group managing director Kavita Pal said: “The Lohri Festival is all about colour, youth and liveliness. We thought it would be a fabulous idea to invite our customers to come in out of the cold.”
