GARSINGTON Primary School is a good school, says Ofsted.
Afters its previous inspection the school received a satisfactory rating — a grade since replaced by ‘requires improvement’.
But when inspectors visited in December it was judged good in all areas.
Inspector Rodney Braithwaite said: “As a result of good teaching, almost all pupils make the progress expected nationally, and a good number in all year groups do even better than this.
“As a result they achieve well.
“Teachers have good expectations of their pupils, relate well to them and provide an imaginative and practical range of activities throughout the day.”
Headteacher Karen Metcalfe was described as “considerate and evaluative”, and pupils as enthusiastic and confident learners who enjoyed school.
There are 191 pupils at the Wheatley Road school.
The school was urged to ensure more teaching became outstanding by providing additional opportunities to develop independent learning skills and making sure all teachers understood and used information on pupils’ progress effectively. The responsibilities and leadership roles of middle managers needed developing.
