THE Old Bailey is due to hear evidence from a girl who claims she was raped and sold for sex by a gang in Oxford.

Nine men are standing trial at the London court accused of 79 charges including child rape and trafficking for sex. The defendants, aged between 24 and 28, deny all charges.

The witness, known as Girl 2 as she cannot be named, was 14 when she was allegedly abused.

Prosecutor Noel Lucas said on Thursday the girl had been burnt with a lighter and told she would be shot when she refused to have sex with the men.

Mr Lucas said: “She didn’t want to have sex with any of the Asian men. She will say she did so as she was afraid of them.”

Mr Lucas said Kamar Jamil, 27, of Aldrich Road, Cutteslowe, and brothers Akhtar, 32, and Anjum Dogar, 30, both of Tawney Street, East Oxford, were responsible for the abuse of the girl.

They deny the charges.

The trial, which did not sit yesterday, will hear from six complainants who say they were aged between 11 and 15 when they were abused from 2004 to 2012.

The trial, expected to last up to 12 weeks, will resume on Monday.
