Abingdon hit by power cut

THREE-HUNDRED businesses and homes have lost power in Abingdon this morning after a workmen hit an underground cable in the Bury Street Precinct.

Peter Wiblin, from Abingdon News Plus, said the outage had hit town centre shops at about 11am.

A Southern Electric spokesman said the power cut had been caused by a workmen hitting a cable.

He said: "Engineers are on site at the moment working to fix the problem."

It was not known yet when power would be restored.

Mr Wiblin said: "All the shops in the precinct and along the High Street have lost power.

"All the shopkeepers are now stood outside their shops."

R.E. two stories above. I know that they are only doing their highly paid jobs, but how can defence barristers morally even contemplate defending and cross examining people in these circumstances when the truth is already out there.
